Airport Surveillance System – Next Generation

The ASR-NG Next Generation airport surveillance radar was developed on the basis of six decades of experience delivering Military ATC Air Traffic Control and Air Defence Radars. It incorporates latest leading edge and European patented technology to cope with the new environmental challenges such wind farms and 4G/LTE interference.

It is the next generation radar solution and it incorporates new options for air traffic control and safe guidance during take-off and landing.

ASR-NG is a system consisting of a 3D S–Band solid state approach control and medium range surveillance primary surveillance radar and the Mode S monopulse secondary surveillance radar MSSR 2000 I®. It implements a fully digital Doppler detection and tracking radar and has the most flexible, self-learning clutter and site optimisation capabilities.

This new state-of-the-art radar can recognize the smallest as well as the biggest targets with excellent detection performance. Its no-blind speed coverage ranges from 0 to 1,200 knots. It has a six-level weather detection capability.

The ASR-NG offers unique clutter suppression techniques that allow air traffic controllers to guide even smallest aircraft such as gliders and UAV flying low over heavy dynamic clutter as sea clutter or on- and off-shore wind farm areas.

The ASR-NG has been specified, designed, developed, manufactured, installed and commissioned in accordance with the highest international safety standards and requirements.
